I get emails all the time of people asking what went wrong with their kombucha tea, and 8 out of 10 times when I ask them if they used a culture, they respond that they have not.
You CAN make kombucha without a Kombucha mushroom, but in my opinion it just isn’t worth it.. especially if you live in a colder climate and are not using really strong starter tea.
