Most pour over guides teach you to follow a recipe. The problem: recipes are written for someone else’s coffee, and someone else’s gear. In this video I’ll show you the five levers that actually control extraction — grind size, ratio, water temperature, bloom length, and agitation — and how to read any coffee bag to set them before your first pour. Works with any dripper: V60, Chemex, Kalita, Origami, flat bed or conical.
By the end you’ll be able to dial in pour over coffee from scratch, without a recipe, every time.
Topics covered: what extraction actually is and why the order matters, how to read your bloom and draw-down as real-time diagnostics, how roast level, process, altitude, and freshness change your lever settings, and how grinder profile affects every other variable. Demo coffee is the Dune natural Colombian from Alexander Vargas, shipped by Trade Coffee.
