ALTBIER! Its malty with a touch of caramel sweetness but drinks like a crispy boi lager. It’s my absolute favorite beer and its high time I brewed one up.

JOSH’s ALTBIER RECIPE (with my adjustments)
Recipe for 5 gals (18.9L):
~10.2 LBS [4.6 KG] of Grains
-49% [5LBS] Munich I
-39% [4LBS] Pilsner
-5% [1/2 LB] Caramunich 3
-5% [1/2 LB] Carapils
-2% [~2oz] Carafa I (I swapped for Carafa 3, but could use Carafa 1 for lighter color)

Protein Rest @135F (57C) for 15 mins
Mash @ 152ºF (66.7ºC) for about 60 mins

-1.5oz [~42g] Spalt @60 min
-0.75oz [~21g] Spalt @30 min
-0.75oz [~21g] Spalt @Flameout
*NOTE: Josh called for 1oz of each at those times

-SafAle K97 or similar, Fermented at 60ºF [~15.6ºC]

Original Gravity: 1.0478
Final Gravity: 1.012
ABV: 4.7%
IBU: 29
