Don’t Pay $5 for Kombucha! Make It at Home with Tea & Sugar (Day 9/365 Fermentation Challenge)

Homebrew Kombucha
For Day 9 of my challenge to make 365 different ferments in 365 days, I’m making kombucha! Kombucha has exploded in popularity in the last few years. There are many brands of kombucha to choose from at the grocery store. However, kombucha is also overpriced, so if you love kombucha, it is best to make it yourself at home. The most difficult part of making it yourself is getting your hands on a SCOBY.

Today, I’m preparing a strong black tea with white sugar in it. Afterwards, I dilute the tea with room temperature water. When it cools down, I add in my starter tea and SCOBY. I’ll put a paper towel over the opening and leave it to ferment for several days.
