Homebrew Kombucha
In this video, we show you how to grow your own SCOBY so you could eventually make kombucha. Have you ever thought about brewing your own kombucha at home? It all starts with a SCOBY. SCOBY is an acronym for Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and YEAST (S.C.O.B.Y). This active, living culture is added to a batch of green or black tea and it turns plain tea into a fermented liquid. This is important because it is full of probiotics and combined with pre-biotics it sets you up for amazingly healthy gut health. Kombucha is a huge help in digestion and has many other health benefits. I started brewing my own kombucha at home about 2 years ago and I have never looked back. Get ready to start making a SCOBY. SCOBY Recipe
In a large mixing bowl with spout, add:
10 bags of organic tea (I used 5 green and 5 black)
4 cups water
1 cup organic cane sugar

Pour into large 1 gallon canning jar
pour in 4 cups of ice cold water
Bring to room temperature. Must be below 80 degrees
add bottle of store bough Kombucha as a starter
Cover with a cloth so air can escape and use a rubber band around the edge
to hold the cloth on. Store in a dark, dry, warm or room temperature spot for 1-2 weeks
Remove cloth. SCOBY should be formed.
