How to Make Kombucha Tea at Home (DIY)

Homebrew Kombucha
Kombucha is all kinds of good stuff! Fermented tea has been used as a health-boosting tonic for over 2000 years and is a great way to reset your digestive flora, give your immune system some oomph and even get you moving better. It’s also a tasty way to toast to your overall health.

Fermentation can seem a bit intimidating but luckily for us, Kathrin Brunner (from For the Love of Body) takes us through the yummy process step by step.

If you’re a Torontonian, you can take and re-take Kathrin’s Kombucha workshop in person and meet some pals to Kombucha with. Check out the schedule on her website: http://www.fortheloveofbody.com/

If you’re looking for a “Mother” or SCOBY supply, Kathrin can help hook you up in Toronto. Outside of the Big Smoke, she suggests simply asking around (inexplicably, yoga teachers and health food store cashiers seem to always have spare mothers). Another option is to re-hydrate a dried SCOBY purchased at a store. http://www.culturesforhealth.com/ustorelocator/location/map.

And hey, if you’ve got SCOBY, leave a comment and connect with the tuja community!

This video was shot on location at Loft 404 and we want to thank them for sharing their funkified space with us. Thanks also to Kathrin, Genna, Andrew, Tim K and the tuja Toronto City Connectors Mary & Bri!
