It’s not a pale ale or a hoppy IPA but we taste a great Porter this week!

Keeping with the philosophy that we must not let these other beer styles fade away in the age of hop this and hop that, Mike brewed up a low hopped, malt forward, classic English style Porter to rescue us from the sea of sameness.

We discuss this particular beer’s recipe. I discuss some of my technique issues that led to a higher than desired finishing gravity. I’ll likely brew this again to dry the beer out.

We also finish on tips for homebrewing a great Porter and helping it to stand out. Hint: It’s about focusing in the malt, especially character malts.
