Making pour-over coffee doesn’t have to be complicated. In this video, I’ll show you my simple method using a Chemex, 20 grams of coffee, and 300 grams of hot water to brew a smooth, clean, and balanced cup for one.
Here’s the recipe:
• 20g coffee, coarsely ground (like sea salt)
• 300g water at ~200°F (93°C)
• Brew time: about 2 minutes
Steps:
1. Rinse your filter and warm your server, then discard the water.
2. Add 20g of coffee to the filter.
3. Start with 100g of water, pouring in slow circles from the center outward. Let it bloom for 30 seconds as CO₂ escapes and aromas rise.
4. Add another 100g, wait 30 seconds, then finish with the last 100g.
5. Total brew time is about 2:10 for a clean, flavorful cup.
I’m using my iKape V2 Pro coffee scale, which connects to my phone via Bluetooth for real-time feedback. But any coffee scale with a timer will work just fine.
Whether you’re new to pour-over or want to refine your technique, this is an easy way to get café-quality coffee at home.
