It usually takes about a week to carbonate 5 gallons of beer at serving pressure. In this video we show you how to quickly carbonate a beer in 30 minutes. This process is also known as force carbonating. This is super useful when you don’t have any time, but you want to taste a finished batch, share it with friends, or take it to a party. Follow this tutorial and you’ll be able to carbonate every beer you make super fast.

The trick is to get your beer really cold before beginning (34F is perfect) and to not push it too far so you don’t end up over carbonating. Alternatively, you can leave your keg hooked up to CO2 while shaking (we can’t because our kegerator is too full to allow room for shaking the kegs). This will reduce the amount of time it takes to carbonate but also increases the risk of over carbonation. So, if you leave the gas hooked up, error on the side of caution or you could end up with a foamy mess.
