Hard Cider from Store Bought Apple Juice!

Homebrew Cider
Hard Cider from Store Bought Apple Juice! How to make Hard Cider or Apple Wine. Making hard cider at home using a method anyone can do. Here’s how to make hard cider at home, using very little specialized equipment. Due to the higher alcohol content of this recipe, some may say we are making apple wine. I won’t argue the point, but, from a legal standpoint, they’re right. We use Belle Saison Yeast, apple juice from the grocery store (only quality juice though), some sugar and that’s about it to make this amazing hard cider or apple wine.

Due to the higher Alcohol content (11.8 vs 8ish) some might call this apple wine. We called it cider because there are others that say apple wine is cider! Confused yet? Us too.

Recipe:
1/2 gallon apple juice (room temp)
1 cup sugar
1/2 t yeast hydrated with apple juice

Pour enough from the container of apple juice to have room for sugar, yeast and a bit of head room. Add sugar and mix until you don’t see grains settle to the bottom of the bottle. Add hydrated yeast and top with airlock. You should see activity (bubbles) in 6 to 24 hours. Wait at least 2 weeks for fermentation and enjoy.

In a couple of weeks, we will have a bottling and tasting of this cider, so stay tuned and be sure to subscribe and click the bell icon to be notified: http://www.youtube.city-steading.com/
