How to Brew Kombucha First Fermentation

Homebrew Kombucha
The basic steps someone needs to take to brew Kombucha first fermentation; followed by a brief overview and some tips for bottling and the second fermentation. This is not a complete guide because there will always be one-off scenarios.

Some important notes: If using a 1/2 gallon jar, adding 2 cups mother brew (aka starter) will make the flavor stronger and 1 cup mother brew will make the flavor milder- so use your own taste buds when deciding this portion. If you use a gallon size jar, keep the mother brew at 2 cups. If you have an even bigger jar, just multiply accordingly using the 1 cup per 1/2 gallon ratio.

Also, an easier way to add sugar to the quart size jar when brewing your tea is to add the sugar into the jar first, put in the tea bags, and then pour the boiling water in… We just decided to show you the hard way!
